Brown Splatter Ceramics
Brown Splatter XL Bowl
The XL bowl is a favorite of THE SLOW HUT. Its eye-catching size makes it a centerpiece on any table. It’s beautiful on its own or as a fruit bowl or a salad bowl for the entire family. It’s part of the Brown Splatter Ceramics collection and fits perfectly inside each other for impressive serving and ease of storage. But it can just as easily be combined with other ceramics collections such as the Cream Edge Ceramics collection, as it shares the same cream base color.
Every bowl is made by hand and therefore not two are completely alike. The production of ceramics is a very old and slow process. It takes three-six weeks for it to dry depending on the season. Once dried it’s burnt before and after being glazed and then the splatters are added before being burnt for the third and final time. All together the production time is about three months.
The splatter technique was traditionally a cheap way of decorating simple everyday objects. The splatter effect is achieved through a traditional method where a small bunch of reeds is used to splash the brown glazes onto the dish as it is turned by hand. The pattern and strength of colors therefore depends on the ceramic’s makers mood and will turn out differently. This is the charm of everything being made by hand. Every piece from the Brown Splatter Ceramics collection can go into the dishwasher.
